Deployment, Day 31 - One month

It has honestly gone quicker than I thought, but the first month of deployment has come and gone. I’m trying not to get too excited about this fact, because five months is still a very long time.

There has been some discussion on board as to where exactly the one-month point of deployment was. Most people count March 15 as that point, since we left on February 15. I, however, do not like using that date, since February was a short month. That means that the period from February 15 to March 15 was only a period of 28 days. Since deployment is 180 days, one month to me is exactly one-sixth of that, or 30 days. That puts the one month point, in my eyes, as March 17: St. Patrick’s Day.

With that in mind, Happy St. Patrick’s Day, everyone! Have an extra beer for me; I sure as heck won’t be having one today.
