Instead of going to work today, I helped operate a concessions stand at the San Diego Padres game. It was a fundraiser for my squadron's welfare and recreation fund. We sold hot dogs, burgers, fries, soda, beer, wine, peanuts, salads, and sandwiches. They put me in charge of the money, so when I wasn't pouring beers and tossing hot dogs around I spent a lot of time counting bills.
Unfortunately we were not very busy, so we did not raise much money. Our stand was in the upper deck, during a weekday game that started at 12:30 pm. Plus the Padres suck. Needless to say, there were not too many fans in attendance. We had to close our booth early.
Still, it was good to get away from work for a day and spend some time in the sun. Plus we had as much pizza, hot dogs, fries, and soda we wanted. They also made a mistake with the store's inventory, so they ended up with a whole extra case of Mike's Hard Cranberry Lemonade, which they let us drink while we watched the rest of the game. Mmmm...girlie drinks!!
