Master Yoga

In my continuing effort to keep my mind open to new ideas and try new things, I went with Lady Anne to a yoga class. Our friend Jen invited us a couple weeks ago and we took her up on her offer yesterday.

For those of you who have never tried yoga and think it's a bunch of New Age nonsense, well, it might be a little. I guess it depends on the type of class you go to. The one we went to was complete with burning incense, Asian decorations and weird music. But don't be mistaken, yoga is not easy! Yoga requires a degree of muscle strength and a LOT of flexibility, neither one of which I have in spades. There is very little motion, but I was working up quite a sweat, as well as a lot of pain! And this was a beginner's class. Even Lady Anne, who is a lot more flexible than me, was having problems. She was even sore when she got up this morning.

It's a little different than the type of physical activity that I am used to, but I am going to give it a chance, at least for a while. I'll do anything if there's a chance it will help with my lower back pain. Plus at the end of the class they make you just lie on the mat for a while. I love nap time!
