No clowning around

This morning I was making a quick run to the grocery store, and a minivan drove past me with two clowns in the front seat. They looked angry. It's funny, but clowns are supposed make people happy. Most clowns I see don't look all that happy themselves.

I've never liked clowns, even when I was little. They've always scared me. Plus they smell funny. All of them. Don't believe me? Next time you see a clown in public, stand next to one and take a big whiff. My guess is that it's from the heavy makeup and the powdery balloon animals and the hundreds of sticky little kids jumping all over them 12 hours a day.

My advice: if you let your kids within 10 feet of a clown, make sure you have plenty of antiseptic wipes handy. Ditto for those mall Santa Clauses.
