Some experts say that the key to a successful marriage is communication. I am always trying to improve the communication in my marriage, and today I learned something new: the art of the subtle "no".
This evening I had just returned home from the gym. I was a little sweaty and nasty, but Lady Anne wanted to eat dinner right away because she was hungry. She didn't want to wait for me to shower. I obliged, and afterwards we were browsing channels on the TV. I saw that there was an episode of "Law and Order: SVU" coming on: a show that I love, but Lady Anne doesn't like to watch much. The following conversation ensued:
Wilmer: "Hey, Law and Order SVU is on. Can we watch that?"
Lady Anne: "Don't you have to take a shower now?"
I guess that meant no.
I have a feeling we're going to be good at this communication thing...
