Animal House

Well, we're officially in Australia.

Lady Anne and I went whale watching last Friday. Apparently at this time of year, the humpback whales follow the east Australian current and begin to migrate from the Antarctic back north, right along the east coast of Australia. We saw a whole bunch of humpback whales, including a couple that were very curious and decided to swim just a few feet from the side of the boat! I've seen whales from my helicopter before, but whales don't like the sound of helos too much and dive whenever we try to get close. I have never seen them from so close before; it was totally amazing!

Yesterday we went to a local petting zoo. We got a chance to touch and feed lambs, goats, and even kangaroos! Lady Anne was afraid of the kangas at first, because she thought they would try to kick her! Her fear went away really fast, though, especially when she saw a little joey in the pouch of a momma kanga (he's soooo cute, I need to take 500 pictures of him!!) Lady Anne also milked a cow that tried to show her appreciation by peeing on her. We even got to pet a couple of koala bears.

It's been a fun couple of days. Sorry we can't post pics for you all at home, but it will be the first thing we do as soon as we get back. More to come...
