Last weekend Lady Anne and I were in Las Vegas for my cousin Art's graduation. He was getting his doctorate degree from UNLV. It was a fun weekend, especially since I could not lose at the blackjack table! Lady Anne won five dollars in this slot machine before she lost it, then lost five more. I've never seen anyone so upset to lose five dollars!
On Friday we ate at the seafood buffet at the Rio before watching Blue Man Group at my favorite Vegas hotel, Venetian. Art's graduation was Saturday followed by dinner with his family.
We had to leave early Sunday to beat the traffic back to SoCal. Now I don't know how many of you have ever taken the drive between San Diego/Los Angeles and Las Vegas, but it's about five hours of nothing through Southern California's Mojave Desert. Well, almost nothing: the drive along Interstate 15 goes past Baker, CA, home of the world's tallest thermometer. Below is a picture of me with the thermometer in the background.
You can read more about the world's tallest thermometer here. And here.
Now you understand why those guys in Swingers were so bored...
