Deployment, Day 181 – Time to jet

Today the Harriers jets flew home. They are the lucky ones. They were within flying range of their home base in Yuma, Arizona, so they flew off today for their homecoming. Their homecoming is one day before the rest of the Marines and two days before us poor Navy saps stuck on the ship. They are resting comfortably in their homes while the remainder of the ship continues to plow our way towards San Diego.

I have watch at midnight tonight, but I am finding it hard to get to sleep. I remember having insomnia during the weeks before leaving for deployment. I didn’t think I would have the same problems during the last few days on the way back in. This trip back from Hawaii has been the longest eight days of my life. I really need to calm down and get some rest.
