Road trip day two

Why is the Midwest so boring? The drive through Missouri was as much of a snoozer as Illinois.

Once we got to K.C. I had to get some authentic Kansas City barbecue. After all, what else do you do if you have one night in Kansas City? (except for see a Royals game, of course). After a little research, we found Arthur Bryant's barbecue. Arthur Bryant's is a run-down barbecue joint in the middle of a bad neighborhood. I don't think Lady Anne was comfortable getting out of the car.

I knew I had found some good barbecue! It reminded me of another great barbecue joint from my college days: Woody's Ribs on Crenshaw, in South Central L.A.

You could smell the smoker as soon as you got out of the car. Inside there were pictures of about a dozen celebrities who had made there way down there. There were several of Danny Glover; he must really like the place. I ordered a barbecue pork sandwich with fries and baked beans. It was pretty good. Lady Anne did not want to order anything so we ordered the sandwich to go and got her some chicken fingers from McD's.

Later we went to the Royals game, and they beat the Yankees 5-3. Some notes:
1. The Royals just hired a new manager today, Buddy Bell, and broke a six game losing streak for him.
2. Former Cub Joe Girardi was managing the Yanks today. Joe Torre is serving a one-day suspension.
3. The Royals starting pitcher, Zack Greinke, won his first game of the season after 15 attempts. He is 1-6.
4. Jason Giambi went 1-for-3 with an RBI, but is still batting .231 as the Yankees' DH. Can anyone say steroid withdrawal?

Call me sadistic, but I enjoy watching it when the Yankees struggle. It's proof that no man can BUY a World Series...

Gotta go. I'm eating leftover baked beans and the Cubs are tied with the Dodgers in the bottom of the ninth. Let's make it five in a row!
