Carpet cleaning

With Lady Anne on her spring break and visiting family in Chicago for a few days, I thought it was a great time to finally clean the carpet in the condo. So I went over to Clay and Jen's house (thanks guys) and borrowed their carpet shampooer for a few days. I figured I could just move some furniture around and shampoo the carpet during a time when it would impact only me.

Well, I certainly learned that cleaning the carpet in your home by yourself is not an easy task. This is especially true since cleaning the carpets requires a significant amount of furniture moving: not quite so simple when you are alone. It took me the equivalent of half a day just to finish most of our bedroom. Also, since the bedframe was too big to move out of the room without taking it apart (see pic above), I had move it off to the side and shampoo around it. I'll have to get to the area under the frame when the rest of the carpet is dry.

I am glad that I did it, though. You should have seen the crap water that came out of the return tank of the shampooer. That is just from the bedroom; I haven't even gotten to the high traffic areas like the living room yet. You never know to what extent you live in your own filth until you've cleaned your carpets.
