Saturday fun

Well my luck is pretty good. I haven't been scheduled for the last two weeks, and last Saturday they tag me to do post-maintenance check flights, otherwise known as FCF. No work at all when I want to work, then when the weekend arrives they make me come in.
The good this that they only had one aircraft for us to FCF that day. I was pretty surprised to walk up to that aircraft to see that it had some numbers and patches painted on it in some crappy fluorescent green paint. Well, it turns out that all the aircraft being used in the firefighting efforts this past week had to be painted like this to identify the aircraft as such and to be easily seen in the reduced visibility of a wildfire. Regardless, I hated to see one of our proud Navy helos painted up like a demolition derby reject.
The aircraft flew as well as it looked. The #2 engine failed the second time we tried to start it. The maintenance that it required would have taken the rest of the day, so we were cut loose. My FCF Saturday was mercifully over before noon.
