Back on shore

The last month since the end of deployment hasn't been too bad. I didn't take any vacation days until about two weeks after, but I just returned from a week and a half in Chicago visiting friends and family and getting reacquainted with my wife. The best news of all is that Lady Anne has decided to put off nursing school for a while and came back with me to San Diego when I returned last Monday. Although it is unfortunate that she was not able to finish school, I am so happy that she decided to come back and live with me. After being apart 10 of the 15 months since we've been married, I am glad that we can finally be together.

I am having a hard time getting back into the daily routine of being back home, especially since working hours on the ship have been so short and we have to go underway again next week for five days. I really don't look forward to going out to sea again, but the good news is that once we get back, the ship doesn't plan to go underway again until December.

Hopefully by then I will no longer be onboard. I found out a couple of weeks ago that I will be staying in San Diego for my next tour. That means that I get to live here for at least another three years. Lady Anne and I are pretty excited about that. We were not looking forward to uprooting and moving so soon after she finally moved out here. At least now we can put together some semblance of a normal life, at least until the end of my next tour.
